BCSL Membership Secretary
We are looking a Membership Secretary to join our team of volunteers at Bledington Community Shop and Cafe.
The Membership Secretary is a new role to support and develop BCSL as a Society in our local community. It involves work that is not onerous, can be done in your own time, and requires organisational skills and imagination, but doesn’t mean joining the Committee.
We have some 350 Members of BCSL at the moment. A key responsibility is to keep the list of Members accurate and up to date. That includes tasks such as:
- Enrolling new Members
- Updating addresses and emails on our two databases.
- Keeping track of members who move
- Occasionally noting a Member’s death and finding out who are the beneficiaries so that shares may be transferred to them or returned to BCSL.
The more creative part of the role is to look after and develop what we do for and with our Members. We have a Membership Strategy and we communicate with Members regularly, but could we do more? What happens when new people move to Bledington and nearby villages—how do we identify them? How do we approach them to become Members?
The Membership Secretary will work with Members of the Management Committee, including Ben Woodward, the Treasurer; the Company Secretary when appointed; and Ben Ball who is responsible for marketing and communications; together with Moira Cross who supports BCSL in recruiting, training, and monitoring volunteers.
