JOB VACANCY - ASSISTANT MANAGER
Bledington Shop and Café is a community-owned business located in the lovely village of Bledington in the North Cotswolds (near Stow on the Wold). It was opened in late 2019 and has become a key hub for the village and visitors. It attracts excellent reviews on Google and TripAdvisor and is the social centre of the village. It also attracts families from the local primary school and is popular with cyclists and walkers.The shop and café is open 7 days a week between 9 am and 5 pm (4 pm on Sundays) and is staffed by a full-time Manager supported by volunteers from the surrounding villages.
The shop stocks an array of groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, bakery and dairy items, alcohol, soft drinks and confectionery and newspapers and magazines. The shop prides itself on stocking local lines where possible, including local gifts. The café has a variety of cakes and pastries, hot snacks, coffees and hot drinks.
We are currently seeking a full time Assistant manager. The role involves all aspects of food retailing within the Community shop, including customer service, stock management and running the café. On the days you are responsible for opening or closing the shop you will need to start at 8:15 am and finish by 5:30 pm (4:30 on Sundays in summer, 2:30 in winter).
Experience of customer service or within the hospitality industry is desirable, but additional training will be given to the right candidate.
An ability to work alone and also alongside volunteers is essential, and the role will involve shop opening and cashing up procedures. IT skills are essential as all stock is booked in through an EPOS system. The role involves placing orders with suppliers and handling invoices. You will need access to a car to collect goods from suppliers.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, team working, great communication all with a friendly “can do” attitude in all that they do.
