JOB VACANCY - SHOP ASSISTANT - part time / job share - temporary sickness cover
Bledington Community Shop is currently seeking a job share/part time Shop Assistant. The role includes customer service, stock management and running the cafe. This will require some weekend work.
Experience of customer service or within the hospitality industry is desirable, but additional training will be given to the right candidate. The shop is the social hub of the village and is great fun.
An ability to work alone and also alongside volunteers is essential, and the role will involve shop opening and cashing up procedures. The role involves placing orders with suppliers. We'll show you how!
Bledington Shop and Cafe is a community-owned business located in the lovely village of Bledington in the North Cotswolds (near Stow on the Wold). It attracts excellent 5* reviews on Google and TripAdvisor and is the social centre of the village. It was voted best community shop in the South West.
As well as serving the local community, our friendly shop and cafe attracts families from the local primary school and is popular with cyclists and walkers. The shop and cafe is open 7 days a week between 9 am and 5 pm (4 pm on Sundays, 2pm in the winter). It is staffed by a full-time Manager and supported by volunteers from the surrounding villages.
The shop stocks an array of groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, bakery and dairy items, alcohol, soft drinks and confectionery and newspapers and magazines. The shop prides itself on stocking local lines where possible, including local gifts. The cafe has a variety of cakes and pastries, hot snacks, coffees and hot drinks.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, team working, great communication all with a friendly "can do" attitude in all that they do.
